What is the curriculum?

  1. Music Together is founded on early childhood research.
  2. We have specific activities built into the curriculum designed to gently teach your child to sing on pitch and develop accurate rhythm.
  3. We offer a NURTURING, RELAXED setting to keep you and your child engaged over the years, through a combination of musical repetition and variety.
  4. But your child is just having FUN, socializing, and bonding with you or their caregiver.
  5. Your child is not expected to do anything musical in class. They naturally absorb the musicality.

What is the class structure?

  1. In each 45-minute class, we joyfully, sing, move, and play instruments. Adults participate and the children relax and absorb the music.
  2. Each class is carefully designed to help your child's musical development, but they can relax and absorb it by just being in class.
  3. The class is designed to teach your child accurate pitch and rhythm while having fun!
  4. Enjoy rituals like singing the Hello Song at the beginning and the Goodbye Song at the end of each class to give your child a sense of safety.
  5. However, the activities in the middle vary each time to stimulate learning, such as dancing, finger play, and playing with instruments such as shakers and bells.

Can I enroll after a session has begun?

  1. YES! We offer a prorate for each missed class which will come off automatically upon check-out (excluding the $46 material fee)
  2. You can schedule extra classes for the missed classes as long as you are enrolled.

Are the classes beneficial to my child's self-esteem? Yes! Music Together helps nurture your child's self-esteem through:

  • Improvisation.
  • Socializing.
  • Learning to self-soothe through music.
  • Helping with language development and so much more.

Should my child participate in class? They do not have to participate!

  • We do not expect your child to sing, dance, play instruments, or do anything musical in class!
  • Children develop their musicality by absorbing what the adults do, both at home and in class.

Do adults participate in class? YES!

  1. The emphasis is on adult participation, while children learn by watching and interacting with the adults.
  2. You and the adult caregivers around your child are your child's most important role models.

Do I need to know how to sing on pitch? NO!

  1. We welcome all voices! You make the program come alive for the children, regardless of your musical ability!
  2. Music Together celebrates the Joy of Music, not perfection. All voices and abilities are welcome with open arms.

What if my child is shy and wants to observe? Wonderful!

  • We welcome shy, gentle observers. They are taking in as much of the music as the movers and will develop in their own way.

What if my child needs to wander? Wondeful!

  • We welcome wanderers and movers! Wandering is normal for toddlers as they are just learning how to walk! You just need to wander with your child.

Notes for Wanderers:

  • Please stay with your wandering child for the entire class.
  • They often need to explore the space. We do not expect toddlers to participate directly.
  • Wandering for two-year-old and older children is also perfectly natural.
  • We do request that two-year-olds are gently guided to learn not to run in class for the safety of the infants.
  • However, we know this is a learning process and will take time.

Will my child do anything musical in class or at home?

  • Research shows that what children learn in class will often show up at home, rather than in the classroom.
  • It is a gentle process.
  • Some children will attend two or three semesters before you see them doing anything musical!

What about the lovely music played in class, can I listen to it at home?YES!

  • Can my little one listen to music from class at home? YES! Four times a year you get a new illustrated songbook with a code to stream the music via the Music Together App!
  • Do I play the music at home? If you, the caregiver can do musical activities at home from the Music Together song collection, this will provide wonderful support to your child's musical development. Listening, singing, and dancing to the music at home is KEY to your child's budding musicianship. And it creates a deeper connection to music class every week.
  • Does the music really change every semester? YES! Every semester for 3 years your child gets a new songbook, code, and CD with new music and activities!

What about instruments? Are they provided or do I bring instruments?
